Sec. of State's Office to Remain Open Late for Voter Registration Deadline Deadline to Register for November 4, 2008 General Election is Midnight, October 6, 2008
PHOENIX -- Secretary of State Jan Brewer announced today her Phoenix office will once again remain open until midnight on October 6, 2008, to collect voter registration forms and answer questions for those citizens wishing to vote in the November 4, 2008, general election.
The voter registration collection point will be conveniently located at the State Capitol Executive Tower Building at 1700 W. Washington, in front of the circle driveway on Washington , just east of 19th Avenue . Since 2004, this is the eighth consecutive outreach effort prior to an election where the Secretary of State's office remained open till midnight in an effort to provide voters an opportunity to get registered prior to the legal deadline.
“There appears to be great interest in the upcoming General Election, and I hope Arizonan's take advantage by getting properly registered before the upcoming deadline next Monday,” stated Secretary of State Jan Brewer.
The Secretary of State's office will have voter registration forms available at this location. Voters may also drop off completed voter registration forms. Blank forms can also be obtained through the Secretary of State's Web site, www.azsos.gov under the Election Services link. Voters may also register online up until midnight on October 6, 2008, through the Secretary of State's EZ Voter system, which can be accessed through the Secretary of State's Web site.
“I encourage all of our citizens to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming general election,” stated Secretary Brewer, “I truly believe these additional voter outreach efforts will have a positive impact and lead to increased voter awareness and participation.”
The Secretary of State's office will also once again have a phone bank manned and operating on Monday from 8 a.m. till midnight, specifically to answer questions about voter registration or the upcoming election.
