The Arizona Capitol Museum Presents "3 Flags Under the Dome"
Celebrating Arizona's 102 Statehood Day

PHOENIX - February marks Arizona’s 102 year as a State.  To commemorate this historic event The Arizona Capitol Museum will feature a special Family Fun Day at the Capitol on the third Saturday in February—the day after Statehood Day.

Our program will include:

  • The premier of “Anticipating the Future” our newest exhibit, telling the story of and latest developments in the State Library, which celebrates its 150th Anniversary this year!
  • The official reveal of the newest addition to our State Symbol exhibit, a full size (10 by 7 foot) Arizona Flag made out of 114,000 LEGO bricks! (on loan through 2015 by Bonanza Educational).
  • Interpretation by Museum Volunteers who will reveal the history of The Rough Rider Flag, as well as the peculiar path Arizona’s own flag took to become the official State banner.
  • Learning through play with Bonanza Educational who’ll be on hand to introduce their state flag sculpture and provide fun interactive building activities with LEGO bricks.
  • [Pending] An American Legion led flag folding ceremony of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Pearl Harbor Memorial flag. Tribal members and Legion officers will be in attendance.

The AZCM is proud to once again be the center of celebration for our Statehood Anniversary.  Our mission, “connecting people Arizona’s Government—past and present” makes us the premier institution to show the many ways government affects and enhances the lives of our citizens.

“3 Flags Under the Dome” will take place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday February 15 as part of Arizona’s Statehood Celebration.  The museum is free, as is parking.
