PHOENIX – ONEBOOKAZ, a program of the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records is pleased to announce its 2015 writing contest winners in the three categories of writing for adults, teens and kids. The winning publications will be available for free download March 14 – June 1 at www.onebookaz.org. A meet and greet with these Arizona authors will be hosted March 14 at the Tucson Festival of Books in booth 147.

“Congratulations to our three winning entries,” said Secretary of State Michele Reagan. “My office is excited to share these eBooks statewide and allow Arizonans to get to know these talented authors, support Arizona authors and share their wonderful stories.”

The winners are:

  • Kids category: Bruce and the Road to Courage by Gale Leach (Sun City West)  about Bruce the caterpillar who runs away from home to avoid becoming a butterfly and finds friends and misadventure along the way.
  • Adult category:  Marcia Fine (Scottsdale) for The Blind Eye: a Sephardic Journey; where two women in different centuries explore their identities in this  sweeping narrative about a family expelled from Spain, connecting forward across time to a modern woman of Cuban descent.
  • Teen category: Dan Trumpis (Sun Lakes) for Welcome to Harmony; a fantasy about a tween wolf moving to a new town where his is not the only family with something to hide.

“The ONEBOOKAZ program is one of the greatest things to happen to Arizona indie authors,” said Tom Leveen, 2015 ONEBOOKAZ judge and Arizona published author of Shackled, Random, and manicpixiedreamgirl. “The chance to be recognized at such a high level and by people who truly love books should not be passed up. Indie authors should enter their books, and readers should check out the nominees and winners both. It's a win-win all around!”

Meet these up-and-coming Arizona authors in booth 147 at the Tucson Festival of Books hosted at the University of Arizona. The festival and parking are free to the public.
