World War II brought with it a number of problems for the budding community of Phoenix. The city faced vice and racial issues, internment camps for Japanese-Americans, German prisoner of war camps, a riot between segregated military units, and an influx of soldiers training in the desert. Dr. Dennis Preisler, Assistant Administrator of the Arizona State Archives, will highlight materials from the State Archives to describe the effects of WWII on Phoenix.
