1 Senate Bill 1001, Forty-Ninth Arizona Legislature, Sixth Special Session, called for a Special Election to be conducted on May 18, 2010. This law must be precleared by the U.S. Department of Justice in accordance with Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act before it can become effective. The other dates affected by this change are also included in this schedule and are also contingent upon preclearance by the U.S. Department of Justice.
2 Senate Bill 1001 provides for the Secretary of State to canvass no later than the second Monday after the Special Election which falls on a state holiday. Pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes, Title 1 the canvass will be conducted on the following day, Tuesday, June 1, 2010.
