Elections can’t function without qualified poll workers.
As you know, the 2010 elections are coming up and Arizona voters will go out in full force this fall and vote. Arizona has more than 2,200 polling locations. To function properly, each location needs approximately seven poll workers. That adds up to more than 14,000 poll workers needed. Poll workers are paid for their time.
Who is qualified to be a poll worker?
Must be at least 16 years old
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must attend required training
Must be available for either Primary Election, August 24 and/or General Election, November 2nd
Must be a Registered Voter (unless participating in student program)
The responsibilities of a poll worker are:
Assisting in setting up and taking down the polling location
Providing direct help to voters as necessary
Knowing how to properly use the voting unit
Checking voter ID
Issuing voters the proper ballot
Serving all voters promptly and with specific sensitivity to voters with special needs.
