Phoenix-area veterans received some of the state's first digital talking book players distributed through the Arizona State Braille and Talking Book Library on September 11, 2009. Ken Bennett (above left) gives a digital player to veteran James Carson (right) as part of the ceremonies held at the Arizona State Capitol Museum. By federal law veterans have always received first preference in talking book services provided by National Library Service. More than 30 veterans attending the ceremony which included remarks from the Honorable Bob Burns, Library Board Chair; Tom Hicks, Visually Impared Services Team Coordinator, from Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center; and GladysAnn Wells, Arizona State Librarian.
