Upon appointment, the candidate will be expected to fill the position immediately, with the term expiring on January 31, 2011. Applicants will be considered to fill the recent vacancy left by Flagstaff Republican Clark R. Dierks. Commissioner Dierks was appointed to the commission in January, but resigned on March 8 due to health reasons. “Potential candidates must meet strict criteria as listed in state statute,” stated Secretary Brewer. “I am very interested in candidates who can bring fairness and consistency to this process.” The candidates for Commissioner must meet the following criteria per Arizona Revised Statute:
