Brewer’s Office to Become CommissionerPHOENIX -- Secretary of State Jan Brewer today announced a new search for applicants to be considered for appointment as Clean Election Commissioner to fill the recent vacancy left by Mesa Republican Carl Kunasek. Commissioner Kunasek was appointed to the commission in February of 2006, but chose to resign citing family obligations. Upon appointment, the new candidate will be expected to fill the position immediately, with the term expiring on January 31, 2009. “Potential candidates must meet strict criteria as listed in state statute,” stated Secretary Brewer. “I am very interested in candidates who can bring fairness and consistency to this process.” The candidates for Commissioner must meet the following criteria per Arizona Revised Statute:
