Figures
Voter Registration Continues to Rise
PHOENIX -- Arizona Secretary of State Jan Brewer has released
the voter registration figures for the State of Arizona as of August 4, 2008.
The statewide voter registration total has increased to 2,799,390, up 65,282
since the last report on June 1.
Secretary of State Jan Brewer stated, “The increase in voter registration reflects
continuing interest in the presidential election cycle. I am pleased to see voter
interest continue to grow as people take the time to get registered to vote so
they can participate in the upcoming elections.”
There are 1,061,591 registered Republicans, an increase of 16,226, since the
June 1 voter registration figures. Registered Democrats total 957,895, an increase
of 22,257. Registered Libertarians total 17,278, an increase of 302 registered
voters and 3,467 voters are currently registered with the Green party, an increase
of 223.
Those registered as independents or as members of unrecognized parties are grouped
together in the “Other” category on the voter registration figures. The latest
total of voters in that group is 759,159, an increase of 26,274.
