Secretary of State Ken Bennett to participate in Census kickoff
Media conference with director of Census Bureau today; forms in the mail this week
Secretary of State Ken Bennett will attend a joint media conference today with U.S. Census Bureau Director Robert Groves to promote public awareness of the 2010 Census. The event will begin at 11 a.m. at Maryvale Baseball Park , 3600 N. 51 st Ave , in Phoenix .
Bennett and Groves will discuss the importance of the U.S. Census, which is conducted once a decade and used to determine everything from the allocation of billions of dollars in government funding to local communities to the reapportionment of congressional seats.
Postage-paid Census forms will be mailed to Arizona households this week. The forms include 10 questions for each primary household resident and seven more questions for each additional resident. Queries include asking each resident's name, sex, date of birth, race and age. Answers are confidential.
