Prop 100 the focus of voter forum this evening
Advocates, opponents of sales-tax proposal will debate at Phoenix College
PHOENIX – Proposition 100, the reason for a statewide Special Election May 18, will be debated before a live audience this evening during a voter forum at Phoenix College.
The proposal would increase the state sales tax by 1 cent per dollar for a period of three years, with the revenue devoted to public education, health and human services and public safety. This evening's forum will run from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Bulpitt Auditorium at Phoenix College, 1202 W. Thomas Road , in Phoenix. Visit Cox7.com for program rebroadcast dates and times.
The forum is sponsored by the Arizona Secretary of State's Office, Cox Communications, Maricopa Community Colleges, Valley Citizens League and SCF Arizona.
Both sides of Proposition 100 will be represented during the event, with gubernatorial Chief of Staff Eileen Klein speaking on behalf of Yes on 100 and state Sen. Thayer Verschoor representing the Ax the Tax Campaign. Serving as moderator will be Rich Dubek, a former, award-winning reporter at KPNX-Channel 12.
