Secretary of State Ken Bennett will call to order a public meeting of the Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission (IRC) on Thursday, February 24th at 2:30 p.m.
The IRC will interview nominees for the fifth member of the Commission and may vote to go into executive session to discuss personnel matters and is closed to press and public.
This is the second time the IRC has been formed since being created by Proposition 106 in 2000. Voters approved the amendment to Arizona’s constitution to create a Commission which would administer the redistricting process for Congressional and Legislative districts. The initiative was passed by a 56% to 43% margin.
