Americans Elect joins state's recognized parties
PHOENIX – The Secretary of State's Office announced Tuesday that the Americans Elect Party has filed the required number of petition signatures to be qualified as a new by the state as a political party.
As such, the Americans Elect Party will be represented by an official party ballot at the next primary election. Americans Elect Party candidates also will be eligible to qualify for the general election ballot.
To qualify for recognized party status, the Americans Elect filed signature petitions with each of the state's 15 counties. County recorders verified those signatures, 27,288 of which were found to be valid and filed with the Secretary of State's Office on Monday. In order to qualify as a recognized political party in this state, the Americans Elect Party was required to file at least 23,041 valid signatures from Arizona voters.
The Americans Elect Party joins the joins the Republican, Democratic Libertarian and Green parties as recognized political parties in Arizona.
