I was disappointed the Clean Elections Commission rejected our offer to join forces and work towards a legislative solution to resolve the criteria by which one becomes a political committee. Sadly it seems they are determined to pass a regulation which substitutes their vision of a political committee rather than adopting the definition approved by elected members of the legislature and signed into law by the governor.
As I’ve said throughout, the ability to make laws lies solely within the purview of the legislature. "We feel strongly the voters created the Commission to promote freedom of speech and encourage MORE citizen participation in the political process. Instead, their vote today sends the message that the only citizen participation that is needed is that of their own five commissioners."
