PHOENIX – Doubling down on her commitment to work with the business community to improve government technologies and transparency, Secretary of State Michele Reagan has announced the formation of the “Secretary’s Technology, Transparency and Commerce Council.”  Made up of some of the state’s most well-respected business people, the council will provide feedback and support for the Secretary’s policy agenda.

As the state’s second highest elected official, chief elections officer, and de-facto lieutenant governor, Secretary Reagan formed the high-level advisory council comprised of diverse business leaders to assist her in better understanding the statewide business community as well as provide unique insight and support throughout her term of service.

“I’m delighted and honored to have such an amazing group of industry leaders to help me identify and implement an agenda that will make government more efficient and accountable,” said Secretary Reagan.  “With their expertise and commitment toward improving the state, I’m confident we’ll take great strides to upgrade our technologies, promote greater transparency and make it even easier to start and run a business.”

As a former small businesswoman, and Chair of the Senate Commerce Committee during her tenure in the legislature, Secretary Reagan will also focus on the important issue of workforce development within construction trades which continues to be an area of concern for the business, development, real estate, and education communities.

Secretary Reagan tapped Dr. Rodney Glassman to co-chair the Technology, Transparency, & Commerce Council.  Dr. Glassman is currently Of Counsel with Ryley Carlock & Applewhite, where he has advised some of the state’s most trusted leaders including Arizona State University President Michael Crow and philanthropists such as John O. Whiteman.  Rodney has also worked with current and former CEO’s of Arizona's largest publicly traded companies, including Phil Francis, former CEO of PetSmart, as well as the Professional Firefighters of Arizona and Arizona School Administrators.

Dr. Glassman’s diverse background includes serving as a corporate executive managing over $150 million in annual revenue for multi-state organizations.  He was appointed as Town Manager for the Town of Cave Creek and served as an elected member of the Tucson City Council.  In addition to his duties as Faculty Associate at Arizona State University he currently serves in the United States Air Force JAG Corps Reserves at Luke Air Force Base.

In an effort to highlight the pivotal role that the Arizona state legislature plays in Arizona's economic development, the advisory council will include a standing seat for the President of the Arizona state Senate and Speaker of the state House who will be invited to participate and share their feedback and input with the council at its quarterly meetings.

With their shared commitment to transparent, accountable, and business friendly government, the Secretary’s Transparency, Technology & Commerce Council will meet quarterly in the Governor’s Conference Room at the Arizona State Capitol.  Meetings will be open to the public.
