PHOENIX – Read across Arizona with ONEBOOKAZ 2016 writing contest winners. The winners were chosen in three categories: adults, teens and kids. The winning publications are available as free eBook downloads until June 1 at the ONEBOOKAZ website.

The winners are:

  • Kids category: Kristin Anderson Cetone (Scottsdale) for Buckaroo Buckeye: A Little Nut with Big Dreams; the inspirational story of a little buckeye nut who falls from his tree in Ohio, is teased by his peers and ends up dodging bumps and bullies on his way to self-discovery.
  • Teens category:  Melinda Rucker Haynes (Oro Valley) for The Haunting of Josh Weston; a fantasy thriller. After his father’s death, Josh’s mother moves him to a desolate ranch in Arizona where he must learn to draw on his strengths and deal with the haunted past that threatens his future.
  • Adults category: Judith Redline Coopey (Mesa) for Looking for Jane; set in the old west, runaway orphan, Nell searches for her mother, Jane. Her quest takes her down rivers, up rivers and across the Badlands to Deadwood, South Dakota introducing her to interesting characters along the way.

“We’re excited to share these eBooks statewide and allow Arizonans to get to know these talented authors,” said Secretary of State Michele Reagan whose office oversees the State Library. “It’s wonderful to be able to support Arizona authors and share their stories.”

The ONEBOOKAZ winning authors will host workshops throughout the state in April and May.
